Bihon is a popular Filipino noodle dish made with thin rice noodles stir-fried with meat, vegetables, and a savory soy-based sauce. It’s a versatile and delicious dish often served during gatherings, celebrations, or as a quick meal.
Ingredients:
Bihon (rice noodles)
Cooking oil
Garlic
Onion
Chicken breast or pork
Shrimp (optional)
Carrot
Cabbage
Green beans
Soy sauce
Oyster sauce (optional)
Water
Salt and pepper to taste
Calamansi or lemon slices for garnish
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Bihon:Soak the bihon noodles in warm water for about 10 minutes or until softened. Drain and set aside.
Step 2: Sauté the Aromatics:Heat oil in a large pan or wok over medium heat. Sauté garlic and onions until fragrant and translucent.
Step 3: Cook the Meat and Shrimp:Add chicken or pork and cook until browned. If using shrimp, add it and cook until pink.
Step 4: Add Vegetables:Stir in carrots, green beans, and cabbage. Cook for 2–3 minutes or until slightly tender.
Step 5: Create the Sauce:Pour in water, soy sauce, and oyster sauce (if using). Bring to a simmer and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
Step 6: Add the Bihon:Mix in the soaked bihon noodles. Toss gently to coat the bihon evenly with the sauce and vegetables. Let it cook for a few minutes until the noodles absorb the liquid and are tender.
Step 8: Finish and Serve:Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with calamansi or lemon slices. Serve warm and enjoy!
