Filipino Spaghetti is a sweeter, creamier twist on the classic Italian spaghetti. It's a beloved dish often served at celebrations, family gatherings, or kids' parties in the Philippines. This dish is characterized by its sweet tomato sauce, hotdogs, and ground meat, often paired with grated cheese on top.
Ingredients:
500g spaghetti noodles
2 tablespoons cooking oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium onion, chopped
250g ground pork or beef
1 cup hotdogs, sliced into thin rounds
2 cups banana ketchup
1 cup tomato sauce
1 cup evaporated milk
1 tablespoon sugar (optional, to adjust sweetness)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup grated cheese (cheddar or processed cheese)
Instructions:
Step 1: Boil the spaghetti noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Step 2: Heat the cooking oil in a large pan or skillet over medium heat. Sauté garlic and onion until fragrant and translucent.
Step 3: Add the ground pork or beef and cook until browned. Break it apart with a spoon as it cooks.
Step 4: Stir in the sliced hotdogs and cook for 2–3 minutes.
Step 5: Pour in the banana ketchup, tomato sauce, and evaporated milk. Stir well to combine. Add sugar if you'd like the sauce sweeter, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 6: Let the sauce simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
Step 7: Toss the cooked spaghetti noodles into the sauce or serve the sauce over the noodles.
Step 8: Sprinkle grated cheese generously on top before serving.
